Fungi Foray at Kingcombe Meadows
When? 28 October 2017
Where? Dorchester
Learn about the amazing array of fungi amongst the ancient pastures of Kingcombe Meadows with expert forager John Wright.
The day consists of a brief introduction to the fungal world and answers the questions: What are mushrooms and toadstools? How do they fit in to the natural world? How on earth do you tell one from another? You will then head out on a guided walk where all the fungi found will be discussed and where possible (it isn't easy for anyone!), identified. A delicious packed lunch will be enjoyed out in the reserve before heading back to the centre for a wrap up session, identifying any new or particularly difficult species.
Due to the nature of this event there will be some walking over rough and uneven ground, and some standing around as you listen to discussion points.
Note: This event is part of our wider work on surveying our SSSI reserves. We do not allow any private fungi foraging on our reserves at any time.
