The Colpixie Trail
When? 14 Feb 2026 to 22 Feb 2026
Where? Symondsbury Estate - Bridport
Once upon a half term, when the days begged for adventure and little feet were itching to explore, something rather unusual stirred on Symondsbury Estate…
Long ago (or perhaps not so long ago), folklore whispered of mischievous sprites called Colpexies who lived in and around Dorset. With stony fingers and far too much time on their hands, they scratched pictures into sandy banks and Holloways – and loved nothing more than tricking explorers who rushed past without taking the time to look.
This half term, one particularly cheeky Colpexie has taken up residence at Symondsbury… and he’s left behind clues, challenges and a trail for young explorers brave (and curious) enough to find him.
Our brand-new children’s trail invites little ones to slow down, look closely and follow the Colpexie’s mischief across the Estate. Complete the trail and there’s a reward waiting at the Visitor Centre, plus the chance to enter a very special competition.
Once finished, children can draw what they think the Symondsbury Colpexie looks like. We’ll display all the artwork – and the winning picture will become the official face of our Colpexie for the rest of the year, complete with a brilliant prize for the artist behind it.
And once the trail is complete? There’s still plenty of magic left for grown-ups: beautiful walks to wander, lovely shops to mooch around, and a café calling your name for a well-earned treat.
After all… adventures are always better when everyone wants to join in.
You can pick up the trail booklet at the Visitor Centre for £4.
