BSO Benevolent Fund Concert
When? 27 May 2018
Where? Poole
Join us in celebrating the 60th year of the OBF with a special concert featuring works by Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev and Beethoven. We’re delighted to welcome best-selling author, Philip Pullman who will be narrating the famous Peter and the Wolf. With its use of various instruments to portray the animals in the story, Peter and theWolf has enticed audiences young and old into listening to classical music for many years.
Francesca da Rimini tells a tragic love story and Tchaikovsky captures the turbulence of politics and love through his symphonic poem brilliantly. Although shorter than his other great symphonies, Beethoven’s Symphony No.8 uses unique harmony to grab the audience’s attention, leaving listeners with unanswered questions and a hunger to know more.
By buying a ticket for this concert you help the fund that provides financial assistance to members of the BSO who have developed a medical condition or an injury. This afternoon’s musicians, ancillary staff, conductor and narrator all donate their services.
