Meals and Memories

The kitchen. It’s the heart of the home where meals and memories are made. It’s where the kettle resides, ready to make those much-needed cups of tea that offer calm amid a teenage angst-ridden storm. It’s where you lovingly bake cakes with the little ones and teach your children the life lesson of how to cook. It’s where meals are created to fuel the family, where homework is helped with at the table, and where a bottle of wine is popped open after a long, hard day. It’s where many a good song has been sung loudly as the dishes are washed and where many a slick dance move has been carried out whilst mopping the floor. It’s the epicentre of the home and much time is well spent there, but sometimes it’s nice to escape this homely hub and head out to a place where a delicious meal is cooked for you and where you don’t have to worry about the washing up.
Just think of a leisurely lunch out somewhere with the family, afternoon tea taken with those you love, or dining on a dinner that’s been cooked to perfection by someone other than yourself – sounds wonderful, doesn’t it? Dorset is renowned for its great food and if you’d like to treat your mum this Mothering Sunday (15th March), or maybe someone’s looking to treat you (just forward this on for them to read, hint hint!), there’s no shortage of places to go in Dorset, and whether it’s fish and chips on the harbour wall, scones and jam overlooking the bay, or à la carte in the countryside, there’s plenty more memories over meals to be made.
