Poole payed a key role during the war, the flying boats connecting us the world, Dunkirk small boats, raiding parties, D-Day trials and being one of the largest embarkation points for D-Day itself. Bringing together information and images of the time. The Society for Poole is organising an exhibition on the Quay which commemorates the 75+1 anniversary of the end of the war and depicts some of the stories of the town.
On the 15th August the Quay will be closed to showcase military vehicles, vintage cars, a funfair, period music and further images and details of the extraordinary role the town and its people played during the war.
