Motcombe Village Fete & Scarecrow Festival

Come to our village fete where we will have 2 arenas and loads of fun events, stalls and displays including pig racing, hawk flying, a dog show, welly wanging, snail racing, a very generous raffle, coconut shy, crockery smash, circus skills, beat the goalie, tin can alley and the infamous tug of war!
Our magnificent hexagonal music tent the HEX (provided by Q&R events) will rival Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage (sort of), with the Mangled Wurzles headlining and an Open Mic for the brave during the afternoon. The Shaftesbury Choir and Loose Connections also playing crucial supporting roles.

13.30 Pig racing – reared and trained by the Black Pig Retreat

15.00 Your Own Dog show awards
16.00 Hawk Display followed by The Grand Tug-O-War
17.00 Scarecrow Winners announced (presented by the Dorset Life Magazine Editor)
17.30 Evening After Party til 10.30pm (everyone welcome) Live Music, BBQ and a well-stocked bar

A Drop of Snow to Herald Spring

Whilst meteorological spring doesn’t start until 1st March this year, the first sight of snowdrops, which bravely push their way up through the cold ground in January and February, can certainly put a spring in our step!
