Creative Writing on the Pier

When? 30 July 2019
Where? Swanage

  • Creative Writing on the Pier

The Sea
Join us to celebrate National Marine Week with Jurassic Coast (UNESCO World Heritage Site) poet-in-residence, Sarah Acton for a gentle morning of creative writing and poetry on the pier. We will take the sea as our theme, using the very special vantage position of Swanage Pier to connect our writing to the coastal landscape, using memory and imagination to travel in time and over miles. We’ll see Swanage and the local seascape from the pier’s-eye-view, working with the outdoor creative process and nature to inspire and stimulate. With readings, prompts and reflection, we will write and share sea-inspired words. All levels and abilities welcome.
These walking workshops take place outdoors, walking at a slow and gentle pace along the pier with seating and frequent rest stops on route. Please dress for the weather and bring a pencil and paper to write on. You may also like to bring a cushion. If the weather is too wild and woolly to hold onto our paper and pens, we will move indoors and use the classroom.

10.30am-12 pm /Max: 12-20 participants
Booking in Advance/ Meet at entrance to the pier/ end at the café for coffee
