Wimborne Minster Folk Festival is a joyous summer event held in the town of Wimborne Minster.
A family-friendly event, it runs from Friday evening to Sunday evening, on the second weekend in June, and attracts tens of thousands of visitors. The events - if not indoors - are largely on hardstanding ground, so there's no fear of Glastonbury-style knee-deep mud, whatever the weather!
As the name suggests, it's primarily a festival of folk and traditional music, with some of the best acts on the scene appearing live. There's plenty of Morris, Appalachian and other traditional dance to see and enjoy. There's a much-loved procession on Saturday afternoon, where the sides dance their way through the town centre. There are also art exhibitions, the Microbrewery, children's activities and trading and catering stands aplenty.
