Make a Beeline for Bridport Market

What do you do on a Saturday morning? One of our favourite weekend treats is a visit to the fabulous year-round Bridport Market.

Stalls offer a mix of everything and anything, with furniture, antiques, collectables, toys, chocolate brownies, vinyl records, local prints, vintage fashion, socks, walking sticks, organic fruit and vegetables, macramé, rugs, hand-made goods, cheese, local fish, we could go on! From May, Bridport Colour Days begin, when on the first Saturday of each month everyone is being encouraged to wear their most vibrant outfits – sounds like fun to us!

The market also takes place on Wednesdays; and on the last Sunday of the month (March – October) the Art & Vintage Quarter at St Michael's Trading Estate hosts The Bridport Vintage Market. Expect the unexpected, and delve into the past!

Bridport is a town with few empty shops: you’ll find some national chains such as Fat Face, Mountain Warehouse, Boots, The Works etc, and these are complemented by many independent stores that take pride in offering customers something a bit different. Womenswear, men’s outfitters, book shops, toys, and even a fabulous hat shop can be found here.

Maybe you’ll want coffee – if so, follow the locals and head to Soulshine, The Green Yard, or Gelateria Beppino – leave some almond biscuits for us please! Be sure to seek out Dorshi for incredible dumplings; the Tiger Inn for a lunch time tipple; or Brassica Forna for some delicious bites.

Go for breakfast, and hey, why not stay for lunch as the foodie scene is incredible. Don’t overlook this remarkable town as it offers so much; see you there!
