What's New in Dorset
01 January 2025
If you’re one of those keen to try out the next big thing, then check out these leisure venues that have opened their doors here in Dorset over the past few months!
Viking Village
Last month we popped into Viking Village in Bridport, which launched only in the autumn and has hit the mark with all audiences! Expect Axe Throwing for the adults, beer pong, AR Darts, and Pool. Games for children include Cornhole; Nerf Gun Fun; kids’ Axe Throwing (no sharp blades) and more. Nothing has been overlooked at Viking Village; the décor is amazing and you can even take a seat on your own hand-carved Viking boat.

You’ll find a selection of food and drinks to keep you satisfied: choose from pulled-pork baps, loaded fries, cocktails, beers, ciders and soft drinks. As well as the hands-on activities, they have a jam-packed events diary with regular live music nights. Whilst families can enjoy early evening entertainment, the venue becomes an adults only zone from 8.30pm so they can stay on ‘til late! You’ll find Viking Village on the St Andrews Trading Estate Located right next door are their sister business, Seals Cove, which is home to an adventure centre, soft play and indoor climbing.

Sticks & Bones
Opening later this month is a brand new pirate-themed Escape Room, so don your pirate’s hat, and take on the challenge – or maybe you’ll find yourselves walking the plank!
Situated within Sticks & Bones, the gaming bar that opened in Weymouth’s Hope Square last summer, the new Escape Room will perfectly complement the wide range of board games, video games and retro arcade games that have been providing fun over the past months.

And that’s not all! Look out for the regular events that include film nights, gaming tournaments, speakeasy evenings and much more. Don’t forget to eat! There are light bites, burgers, vegan, and children’s options on the menu, and plenty of drinks to choose from too.
Sticks & Bones is the brainchild of local company, Dead Walk Design, which has some 25 years’ experience in creating themed sets, scenery, props and models for theme parks, zoos, etc.
When something is such a hit with the locals, you know the visitors are going to love it too – go and check it out, you won’t be disappointed. Take a look at sticksandbones.co.uk/

TeamSport Indoor Karting
In December, the east of our county welcomed a new activity centre for thrill seekers. Perfectly situated between Poole and Bournemouth, TeamSport Indoor Karting is bound to liven up your leisure time, as the electric go karts can reach speeds up to 40mph, on fast straights and exhilarating turns. Maybe you’re looking for a fun day out, a kid’s birthday party or a stag and hen activity? TeamSport are well rehearsed at providing exhilarating experiences.

Have you heard of Sixes Social Cricket? We must admit that’s a new one on us but it’s another fun activity that can be enjoyed at the same venue.
Picture this, you’re given your own netted area along with a cricket bat, where you can hone your batting skills with a series of balls delivered from a virtual bowler. Scores will appear on a leader board and the aim is for you to score as high as possible by striking targets around the net. With challenges for all skill levels, this is an action-packed game that will get your pulse racing!
