Weymouth Pavilion - Things to do in Weymouth this Summer
Image credit - Loving Weymouth & Portland
No holiday to Weymouth is complete without a visit to the Weymouth Pavilion, the town's home for live theatre, tribute shows, cinema, and waterfront dining, right on the harbour.
Those of us lucky enough to live here already have plenty to be thankful for: the beach, the harbour, the Jurassic Coast, and (usually!) glorious sunshine. But on top of all that, Weymouth is home to some brilliant attractions and businesses that go the extra mile for visitors, and the Weymouth Pavilion is right at the top of the list of things to do in Weymouth this summer.
We can't thank the team enough. Led by Phil and Lou Say, they've done so much for the town. It's hard to believe that just 14 years ago the Pavilion was nearly demolished. Thankfully, Phil recognised what a special asset it was and saved it from ruin. Today, it's thriving, and this summer it has more to offer visitors than ever.
Weymouth Pavilion events this summer: Live shows and tribute nights
The Pavilion Theatre hosts excellent events all year round, from big-name acts to intimate theatre shows and top-class tribute nights. A few highlights to look out for this summer include tribute performances celebrating Amy Winehouse, Michael Jackson (Man in the Mirror), and Adele (Adele: Hometown Glory Candlelit Concert), a brilliant chance to enjoy the music you love, live on stage.
Booking to see The Amy Winehouse Celebration? Resort Dorset guests can enjoy £5 off tickets when booking online using the code AMY5 (offer expires 31st July).
Family fun: Toto the Ninja Cat & The Great Snake Escape

Travelling with little ones? Don't miss Toto the Ninja Cat & The Great Snake Escape, a brand-new family musical for everyone aged 5 and up, showing on 18th & 19th August (various times). Toto might look like an ordinary cat, but she's no ordinary feline. Almost completely blind, she has incredible ninja skills, a big heart, and a nose for adventure. By day she naps like any other pet, but by night she's out on daring missions with her cheeky brother, Silver.
Weymouth Pavilion cinema: Films, classics and event screenings
Last year, Weymouth lost its Cineworld, a real blow for the town. But the Pavilion saw it coming, and we weren't without a big screen for long. The theatre now has its very own cinema screen, showing all the latest blockbusters. Better still, standard film showings are just £5 a ticket.
As well as new releases, the Pavilion also puts on Event Cinema screenings, everything from live-recorded concerts, such as André Rieu's Summer Concert, to recorded theatre productions like National Theatre Live. Please note these are priced separately from the standard £5 films. It's a brilliant way to catch world-class performances on the big screen, right here in Weymouth.
They also love a classic, and this summer the Pavilion is running a dedicated Spielberg Season, celebrating some of the director's best-loved films, including The BFG, Hook, and A.I. Artificial Intelligence. The season closes with 'Jaws' on Sunday 23rd August, a personal childhood favourite! It still gets the jump scares just right, so watch out for that popcorn.
Pre-show dining and easy parking
The Pavilion isn't just about what's on stage or screen. There's a café bar for a relaxed drink, and The Piano Bar upstairs for pre-show dining, the perfect spot to sit back and let the anticipation build before your show, film, or performance.
If you're heading down in the evening, parking is right outside and free from 6pm (charges apply during the day), one less thing to think about on your night out.
