The Elm Tree Inn
Weymouth, Dorset
A Warm Local Welcome
The Elm Tree is a 17th century country pub, located at the heart of the beautiful coastal village of Langton Herring, a short walk from Chesil Beach and the Fleet, on the Jurassic Coast.
It is a place of character and history; once upon a time being frequented by smugglers and “wreckers”, it is said to be haunted. During the war, Barnes Wallis stayed there when the bouncing bomb was being tested on the Fleet; and it was even the secret rendezvous for Russian spies during the Cold War!
Today, there’s a wonderfully inviting local atmosphere, with a warm welcome, cosy fireplaces and our Elm bar, a “Snug” where you can relax and chill, or read the paper by the open fire, and outside we have a lovely garden, offering al-fresco drinking and dining during the summer months and beyond. As a free house, there’s something for everyone – offering traditional pub classics and a broad range of real ales and ciders, as well wines and spirits and a good selection of non-alcoholic drinks too.
This is a traditional English pub that offers a classic dining experience for everyone with an emphasis on local.
Visit by car and we have a large car park, cycle and we have spaces for bikes, plenty of seats to rest if walking the area and of course we welcome dogs too!
