Nestled in the rolling Dorset countryside sits Mapperton, a Tudor / Jacobean historic home overlooking stunning Italianate valley gardens and voted ’the Nation’s Finest Manor' by Country Life magazine.
Mapperton is home to the Earl and Countess of Sandwich, and contains an important furniture and picture collection, reflecting the family’s contribution to Britain’s naval history. This year there is a display on the life of Martha Ray, mistress of the 4th Earl of Sandwich, celebrating her work as an accomplished 18th century singer.
The Coach House café offers a delicious ranges of lunches and teas, including gourmet sandwiches developed by the 11th Earl himself. Mapperton also hosts a variety of events through the year, including:
