Moreton Church Flower Festival
Dorchester
This event has now finished.
St Nicholas' Church in Moreton, near Dorchester, is world famous for the beautiful engraved glass windows by poet and artist Sir Laurence Whistler. The church is not only unique in having all its windows engraved, but these make the world's largest collection of Sir Laurence Whistler's window art.
Once a year the church hosts a flower festival which further enhances Whistler's masterpieces with beautiful displays of flowers. This year the festival has a Red, White and Blue "Best of British" theme inspired by the 100th anniversary of the Armistice later this year. The Festival will be open daily 10am to 4pm across the May Bank Holiday weekend of Saturday 26th to Monday 28th May. Admission is free and there will be refreshments and stalls outside the church.
You can also explore the village of Moreton with the grave of Lawrence of Arabia, a free entry walled garden, two tearooms, the River Frome and plenty of countryside walks.
