Shakespeare's Twelfth Night

When? 05 June 2025
Where? Athelhampton House & Gardens - Dorchester

  • Shakespeare's Twelfth Night

Join The Lord Chamberlain’s Men this summer, in our 21st year, for Shakespeare’s best-loved romantic comedy, Twelfth Night. With a history stretching back to William Shakespeare’s original company, we present this joyous play as he first saw it – in the open air, with an all male cast and Elizabethan costumes, music and dance.

“If music be the food of love play on!”

With identical twins separated by shipwreck, a cross-dressing heroine and everyone in search of love, Twelfth Night is one of the funniest and most famous tangled love stories in literature.

“O time, thou must untangle this, not I.It is too hard a knot for me to untie.”

Bring a chair and a picnic and prepare to be entertained and transported.

Come prepared! – Bring whatever you need for a cosy afternoon. Sun shades, sun cream, hats, warm woollies, blankets, waterproofs, face mask, a waterproof lap cover (either a sheet of paper or a bin bag work well), and insect spray!

Bring your own seat – Low backed chairs, rugs and a cushion are always nice. Combine comfort and style! Please make sure that any chairs and/or umbrellas will not obscure anyone else’s view.

Gather a posse – Bring friends and family (family tickets are available). The more the merrier for a fun day or night out!

Arrive Early – Pick a great spot and enjoy the atmospheric surroundings.

Bring a Torch – It’s very helpful to safely find your way back to the car for evening performances.

Bring a Picnic – Refreshments are also available from an hour before the performance.
