Join us as we mark the 80th Anniversary of D-Day where it all began, at the embarkation point here in Portland, Dorset.
We are teaming up with Portland Town Council to mark the event with a day of services, tributes and activities for all the family.
Throughout the day, Castletown D-Day Centre will be holding talks and activities for all the family to enjoy. Get hands on with history and learn about this important event in our past through an immersive experience. Climb inside battle scared vehicles, including our Sherman tank, handle real weapons, and wear authentic uniforms.
More information to follow. We will also be open over the following weekend for those unable to mark the occasion on the 6th June.
Event timetable to include:
7:30 - 8:00 - The D-Day Proclamation at the site of embarkation
9:10 - D-Day tribute to Scottish Piper William Millin
11:00 - Service of Remembrance at Victoria Gardens
4:30 - Brass Band Concert at Nothe Fort
6:30 - Ring out for Peace at Nothe Fort
9:15 - The International Tribute alongside the lighting of the beacon at Portland Heights.
