New Year’s Eve in Weymouth is renowned as one of the places to come and celebrate the end of one year and welcome in the next. The whole town comes out in fancy dress and there is live music inside the pubs and clubs. Also, outside there are bands playing into the night.

Sing Auld Lang Syne around the Town Clock and party the night away! The Jubilee Clock is one of Weymouth’s best-loved landmarks and has been a meeting place for generations of both locals and visitors. Since it was first built in 1887, it has been the focal point of Weymouth’s New Year’s Eve celebrations. As midnight approaches, revellers gather beneath its four faces to enjoy the countdown to the New Year.

The picturesque setting of the seafront is a great place to be as the New Year approaches. The natural arc of the bay provides a good shelter from the winter elements. The expansive Weymouth beach and promenade allow the throngs of people to spread out along the shoreline and see in the new year with a sea view!

Crabbing in Dorset Catch a Crab Crabbing is brilliant traditional family fun; you can spend hours sat on a harbour wall, ice cream in one hand, crabbing net in the other. Where are the best places to catch those crabs? Try Kimmeridge Bay, Mudeford Quay, West Bay Harbour, Poole Quay and Weymouth Harbour all excellent crabbing spots. What will you need to catch them? Use a crabbing net (not a line) plus some bait — they love bacon or smelly fish — and sink the net straight down the ... Read more...
