Dorset Celebrates its Stars! 

Dorset tourism businesses this week celebrated the much-anticipated Dorset Tourism Awards at Marsham Court Hotel in Bournemouth.

Five months of independent judging led to 61 winning trophies being presented to fantastic tourism businesses across the area.

Resort Dorset is proud to support the awards again this year, supporting the Large Attraction category which saw some of Dorset’s biggest and best attractions come together for an evening of celebration. 

So, which large attractions came up trumps this year? Be sure to add the following to your ‘Must Visit’ list…

Gold – Dorset Museum and Art Gallery, where you can discover 250-million years of Dorset Stories; and right now you can enjoy the new Gladiators of Britain exhibition - delving into the gladiatorial contests of Roman Britain.

Silver – Farmer Palmers, is a family attraction that knows how to show you a good time, with both indoor and outdoor attractions, this farm park offers some of the best fun in Dorset for children age 0-8, be sure to head there this year, if you’re local why not sign up to their annual pass!

Silver – Moors Valley Country Park, you’ll find two large adventure play areas, walking trails, cycle routes, adventure golf, and much more, with over 800 acres of country park and forest there is a lot to explore!

Bronze – Brownsea Island National Trust, a must-visit when you are in the area, hop on a boat from Poole Quay and discover this magical island, famous for red squirrels, wildlife, and scouting! Please note Brownsea Island re-opens for visitors on 15th March 2025.

Commended – Nothe Fort,  explore the maze of underground tunnels; sit on the impressive WW2 gun high up on our Ramparts; discover the secret underground Nuclear Bunker; there's also events-a-plenty all year through, do check them out.

Commended – Russell Cotes Art Gallery and Museum, step back in time to Annie and Merton’s historic Victorian house and home in Bournemouth. Rooms are styled as they were in 1907; expect to find fascinating objects and artworks that will leave you wowed!

Check out the full list of winners, maybe you’ll find your next hotel for that cheeky night or two away, or a campsite you didn’t know existed, a restaurant that delivers exceptional dining or a tea rooms for decadent delights.

Crabbing in Dorset Catch a Crab Crabbing is brilliant traditional family fun; you can spend hours sat on a harbour wall, ice cream in one hand, crabbing net in the other.
