La Mia's Poole Quay

Celebrating One Year of La Mia’s on Poole Quay

We’ve enjoyed several visits to La Mia’s on Poole Quay for coffee, cake, and their delicious tapas. So, when we heard they were celebrating their first anniversary, we couldn’t resist giving them a little shoutout.

Housed in one of Poole Quay’s historic Victorian buildings, La Mia’s was transformed in 2024 into a Mediterranean-inspired restaurant with a nautical twist by owner Carly Jarvis-Goode.

Carly’s roots in hospitality run deep. Her late father, Ian Goode, was a familiar name in Dorset, known for running a hotel and the iconic Bournemouth Pier—hosting major events and supporting the local community, including raising thousands for charity. A framed photo of Ian welcomes guests at the entrance, along with a subtle nod to Prostate Cancer UK, a charity the family continues to support. The moment you step inside, you can feel the love and care that’s gone into creating a warm and meaningful dining experience.

La Mia’s is a family-friendly spot that hosts events throughout the year. There’s ample space and comfortable seating, making it ideal for those with little ones. Seasonal family events often feature children's entertainers—check out their calendar to stay in the loop and avoid missing out.

If you’re after something a little more grown-up, their Bottomless Brunch is not to be missed (perhaps leave the kids at home for this one!). Running daily from 12–5pm, it includes prosecco, wine, beer, and a delicious menu to choose from. We’ve got our eye on the Country Music-themed brunch on May 10th—fancy dress encouraged! It’s the perfect excuse to dust off those cowboy boots and head to “Nashville on the Quay.” Booking is recommended.

During the summer months, don’t miss their alfresco paella—freshly cooked and best enjoyed while watching the boats glide by and soaking up the atmosphere.

Congratulations to Carly and the team on your first anniversary—here’s to many more to come!

Crabbing in Dorset Catch a Crab Crabbing is brilliant traditional family fun; you can spend hours sat on a harbour wall, ice cream in one hand, crabbing net in the other. Where are the best places to catch those crabs? Try Kimmeridge Bay, Mudeford Quay, West Bay Harbour, Poole Quay and Weymouth Harbour all excellent crabbing spots. What will you need to catch them?
