Dusk Til Dark Returns to Weymouth This September
.jpg)
Weymouth's much-loved Dusk Til Dark festival is back for its sixth year, running Thursday 24th to Saturday 26th September 2026. Presented by We Are Weymouth, the free, family-friendly event once again transforms the town after dark with light, sound and art, and this year's centrepiece is not to be missed.
Wave: This Year's Star Attraction

The star of the festival is Wave, an internationally touring light and sound installation by artists Squidsoup, produced with Activate Performing Arts. Five hundred interconnected glowing orbs, each fitted with its own LED lights, speaker and microcomputer, hang over Westham Bridge in the shape of a breaking ocean wave. The lights and sound shift constantly, so no two walk-throughs are ever quite the same.
Wave is lit from 6pm to 10pm each evening of the festival, Thursday to Saturday.
What Else Is On
Alongside Wave, Weymouth town centre and seafront come alive with:
- Laser shows on the beach
- Sound bath and yoga sessions beneath the installation
- Public drawing workshops
- Illuminated shop windows across town
- Student artwork, including a Birdsong installation by Weymouth College and illuminated pieces by Coastland College on display at the New Vic Hotel balcony
- Live performances from Dorset Youth Dance and The Originals
Everything is free and suitable for all ages.
