  • Panto: Beauty And The Beast

Bonjour mes amis – Bridport Pantomime Players are looking forward to welcoming you to our next pantomime directed by Amy Carlile.

It’s Beauty and the Beast, a French story, where true love conquers all.

Once upon a time, a handsome Prince was rude and unkind to a beggar and to punish him, he was turned into a Beast.

The spell could only be broken when he learnt to love and be loved in return, which happened when Beauty entered his life.

The Magic throughout is in the safe hands of the Enchantress.

As in all good pantomimes, there has to be a baddie, and this is Count Danton, a vain and selfish man, but for some reason all the village girls adore him.

His side kick/right hand man is Bob, a rather hapless manservant.

The Baroness, Danton’s mother is a rather formidable lady who attempts to keep her son under control.

The traditional pantomime Dame is Madame Bidet who together with her cheeky son Jacques are devoted servants and remember the “good days” before the Prince was turned into the Beast, and his castle became more of a prison than a palace.

Beauty’s father Alphonse, is a kindly man who enjoys inventing things, and then there is Broomhelga, the sort of girl who stands no nonsense from anyone!

So what could be better than a fun night out at the Electric Palace……. to boo and hiss the baddies, cheer and clap the goodies.

Au revoir mes amis – see you bientot!
