A Dorset Christmas Festival – Pull a Pine
When? 29 Nov 2025 to 30 Nov 2025
Where? Wareham
One of the biggest conservation events in the country is taking place this year.
While trees are much loved, what nature really needs are the right trees in the right places. On precious and rare lowland heathland, pine and silver birch trees seed prolifically and can quickly take over, blocking out the light and pushing heathland wildlife out as they grow. If left, the trees will completely take over this very rare environment. By helping to remove the pine trees, visitors can play a part in protecting the beautiful heathland for the future and caring for an area that is home to some of the UK’s rarest wildlife. Sand Lizards, Smooth Snakes, and specialist heathland birds – Dartford Warblers and Nightjars – all rely on the heathland as their home. By cutting their own pine tree for Christmas, participants not only take home a piece of Arne, but also make a real difference in helping the RSPB protect this rare and wonderful environment.
Visitors are encouraged to put on their wellies, wrap up in hats and scarves, and join in for a special festive day in nature. This year’s Pull a Pine will be held over 2 days on the weekend of 29 & 30 November, giving more choice of which day or days to book.
The event runs from 10:00am – 3:00pm (last entry to site at 2:00pm). There will be live music, Christmas craft stalls with locally made artisan and festive items to browse, as well as carol singing and delicious festive foods. Tickets are available in advance only.
The café team will be hosting a festive tent on the heath with refreshments, hot tasty food and mulled cider. The shop and café in the wildlife garden will also be open for festive shopping and Arne café favourites. The festival is a chance to start the festive season with family and friends, and most importantly, an opportunity to do something positive for nature.
Early Bird Discount Tickets are available until the end of October.
