Trusting in the Waves
Weymouth
This event has now finished.
A musical and visual experience that tells the little-known role that Weymouth in Dorset played in the founding of the United States of America.
“Trusting in the Waves” traces the journey of the little Ship that sailed out of Weymouth Harbour in march 1635, and what happened to the real-life characters who sailed with her.
Come along to The Pavilion Theatre on the 13th June for this unique experience, told through original music, images, video and narrative bringing to life this fascinating part of Weymouth’s history.
Our fascinating story begins in early 1635 when a party of Intrepid Pioneers gathered around Weymouth Harbour. The Party was led by the Reverend Joseph Hull, a controversial clergyman from Crewkerne, and comprised of just over one hundred men, women and children from across the South West of England who sailed off to found the Town of Weymouth in Massachusetts.
