Symondsbury Estate Harvest Supper

Date: Wednesday 29th October

Time: 6.30pm til late

Location: Tithe Barn, Symondsbury Estate

Tickets: £35 per person — includes welcome drink, canapé, two-course supper & guest talk

Celebrate the changing season, this year’s harvest and the deep connection between land, food and community at our Harvest Supper, a special evening set in the beautiful surroundings of our 14th-century Tithe Barn.

Decorated with twinkling lights and wild flowers gathered on the Estate, the barn will provide a magical setting for a seasonal feast – brought to life by two people who know this land like no other.

Guest Speaker: Nick Phillips of Grown Up Mushrooms!

A Symondsbury local with a lifelong love of the land, Nick Phillips is also now the forager at the River Cottage and has been leading foraging walks here on the Estate for several years. His name is even carved into the sandstone of Shutes Lane from his childhood.

Nick’s talk will take you deep into the fascinating world of mushrooms – their folklore, their place in our ecosystems and how to forage them sustainably. With humour, warmth and incredible knowledge, Nick brings the forest floor to life.

Symondsbury Kitchen Head Chef: Jim Wanless

Cooking on the night is our very own Jim Wanless, whose food philosophy was shaped by his grandmothers’ kitchens and a lifelong love of seasonal, honest ingredients.

Having headed up kitchens at Dorset favourites like The Springhead and The Manor House, Jim now brings his skills to Symondsbury Kitchen, creating hearty, flavour-packed dishes using ingredients grown and reared on the Estate.
Expect tender Estate-reared lamb, just-picked vegetables from our kitchen garden, and a seasonal pudding bursting with autumnal flavour. A vegetarian option will be available, and a curated wine list will be offered on the night, paired perfectly with the evening’s menu.

Evening Schedule:
6.30pm – Arrival with seasonal welcome drink & wild mushroom canapé
7.30pm – Talk by Nick Phillips
8.00pm – Two-course harvest supper by Jim Wanless

Why It’s Special

This isn’t just a supper – it’s a celebration of place, season and community. With most ingredients sourced from the Estate or within 10 miles, it’s a showcase of local, sustainable, seasonal food served in one of West Dorset’s most atmospheric settings.

Whether you’re a food lover, have a passion for nature, or are simply looking for a memorable evening in beautiful surroundings, the Symondsbury Estate Harvest Supper is not to be missed.
