Her name was Lola, she was a showgirl…… So begins the tale of the love and romance of Lola and Tony on the way to stardom in Copacabana, Barry Manilow’s hit musical, packed with great songs, glitzy costumes and feathers galore. Plus sensational choreography that will have you dancing in the aisles.
Enter the steamy, sexy, dazzling world of the famous Copacabana nightclub in the 1940s, ‘the hottest spot north of Havana’, where ‘music and passion were always in fashion’. Here, bartender Tony Forte falls for ambitious young singer Lola La Mar, newly arrived in New York City from Tulsa, who strives to become a glamorous ‘Copa Girl’ and hopes to become a star.
Featuring such Manilow hits as ‘Dancin’ Fool’, ‘Who Needs To Dream?’, ‘Welcome To Havana’ and, of course, the Grammy Award-winning title song.
Performed by the award-winning Highcliffe Charity Players, whose last musical at the Regent - CATS - was a critically acclaimed sell-out.
