Art School...In a Trail!
When? 14 Feb 2026 to 22 Feb 2026
Where? Dorset Museum & Art Gallery - Dorchester
FREE WITH MUSEUM ENTRY. Discover contemporary art together with this free, creative spotter trail for families. Designed to spark curiosity and conversation, Art School… in a Trail! invites children and grown-ups alike to explore artworks in playful, unexpected ways.
Developed by Kids in Museums and Hachette to celebrate the release of Art School (in a book), the trail features six mission stops dotted around the Museum. At each stop, you’ll unlock a fun, hands-on challenge that encourages you to really look at art, share ideas, and think creatively as a family.
Pick up your free family-friendly trail sheet from the Museum during February half-term and see the collection in a whole new light. Complete all the missions and return your activity sheet to the Welcome Desk to collect your Art School sticker.
The trail is inspired by Art School (in a book), created by the makers of the hit podcast Talk Art – actor Russell Tovey and gallerist Robert Diament. The book offers an exciting and accessible introduction to contemporary art, perfect for young creatives and curious minds.
Drawing competition
Feeling inspired? Take part in our special drawing competition. Share your artwork on Instagram or BlueSky using #ArtSchoolTrail and tag @kidsinmuseums for a chance to win fantastic prizes, including a Double National Art Pass Plus Kids and a signed copy of Art School (in a book).
Free, fun, and full of imagination – this is contemporary art for the whole family.
