Golden Cap

Welcome to the highest point on the South Coast of the UK – and yes, you can visit it! Unsurprisingly, this means that a trip to the golden cap offers you panoramic views of the Jurassic Coast that are nothing short of spectacular.

Golden Cap is a place of paradise for local wildlife. From birds, reptiles, butterflies and dragonflies to wildflowers and rare fungi, it’s hard to miss!

At the peak of the Golden Cap, you’ll find yourself 627ft above sea level. Within viewing distance, you can see out to the end of Portland Bill one way across the coast, and right towards the end of Dartmoor the other way (providing it’s not too foggy). The appearance of greensand rock at the peak of the cliff is the reason for the term ‘Golden Cap’.

The Golden Cap is situated between Seatown and Charmouth, neighbouring West Bay and Bridport.

For Satnav navigation, you’ll need to search for Langdon Hill Car Park, DT6 6EP or Stonebarrow Hill Car Park, DT6 6RA.

For a more challenging route, choose Stonebarrow Hill.
