Chapman's Pool
Chapman’s Pool is a secluded bay between Lulworth and Swanage in the isle of Purbeck.
It shares many geological similarities with Lulworth Cove, where the sea has gradually eroded the limestone to form a semi-rounded bay.
Surrounded by high cliffs, Chapman’s Pool is a little tricky to get to, but this definitely has its advantages. An approximate ¾ mile walk from the nearest car park, the steep terrain offers a challenge in order to reach the bay, but upon arriving, you’ll be greeted with an incredibly peaceful beach. This takes you away from the worries of everyday life, where you can relax and observe the fisherman’s huts and small boats.
For things to do, you can discover 185 million years’ worth of the Jurassic Coast’s history with a spot of fossil hunting, and there are plenty of rockpools in the area. The sea is safe to swim, although there are no lifeguards. The beach is also dog friendly, so for an enduring walk with the pooch, heading to Chapman’s Pool could be a great day out!
How to get there
The closest car park is at Worth Matravers village. For satnavs, use BH19 3LL – you should be able to easily spot Renscombe car park from here.
